National Communications Authority launches SIM registration app on Google Playstore

from Ghana National Communications Authority (NCA) has officially released its SIM card registration on the Google Playstore.

The mobile app will allow subscribers of Ghanaian mobile networks (MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo and Glo) to complete their SIM card registration using their Ghanaian card ID.

Earlier this year, Ghana’s Ministry of Communication and Digitization said it was extending the SIM card re-registration exercise until the end of September 2022. Mobile users are expected to register their SIM cards at the using their Ghanaian card credentials. After the deadline, unregistered SIM cards will not be able to access their respective networks.

What you’ll need to register your SIM card using the app

According to the NCA website, users who want to register their SIM cards will need the following:

  • Map of Ghana
  • Internet access
  • E-mail address
  • Unique code for your SIM card after registration in step 1
  • Ghana digital address
  • Mobile money account

Users will need to enter their network details and scan their biometrics (fingerprints) using their cameras.

Self-registration will cost the user 5GHC (we assume you will pay using your mobile money account).

Currently the app is available on Google Playstore. The app is not live on the iOS store, but we will update a link if it becomes available.
