Truth Social CEO on Governor Newsom joins Trump app: ‘We’re glad to have it’

On Friday, Trump Media & Technology and Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes expressed his excitement after Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom announced he had joined the social media platform created by the former President.

“Just joined Trump’s Truth Social,” Governor Newsom tweeted Thursday. “I’m going to be out there exposing Republican lies. It might get…interesting.”

On “Varney & Co.”, Nunes explained how Truth Social was designed to be an “open platform” regardless of political affiliation.

“For us to have a top Democrat like Governor Newsom, I don’t agree with him on anything, that’s my policy, but in terms of running this business, we’re happy to have him,” Nunes told FOX Business. Stuart Varney.

“The reason we were created is very simple. It’s because President Trump, right down to everyone who was center-right who disagreed on these other social media platforms, has been banned or expelled,” Nunes noted. “And that’s why President Trump started the company.”

“That’s why I left [Congress] to lead the company is to give a voice back to the American people. And that includes Democrats,” the CEO continued.

Former President Trump has 3.3 million followers on Truth Social, according to Nunes, compared to his previous 79 million Twitter followers before he was permanently suspended. Nunes touted the numbers as proof that the platform is free from fake accounts.

“I think the best thing about our platform is that we don’t have a lot of bots or spam,” Nunes pointed out. “We do everything we can to keep it very, very clean.”

Nunes previously told FOX Business that Truth Social was “irrevocable” and immune to “tech bullies.”

“People just didn’t expect that we could, in just a few months, be out of beta testing and fully launched on the Apple App Store,” Nunes said in “Mornings with Maria” in april. “We can’t be undone by Big Tech. We don’t rely on any tech tyrants and truly operate on the Rumble Cloud as we are. This is the future of woke business fighting.”
